Description:

Represents indigent individuals charged with a criminal offense in DuPage County. The representation begins only after the accused person requests the appointment of counsel by the Court, is shown to be indigent by filing and affidavit of assets and liabilities, and the Court in a written order directs that person is to be represented by the Public Defender's Office.

Primary Services:

Eligibility:

Individuals who are identified as indigent based on their income, assets and liabilities

Intake Process:

(1) Public Defenders will be provided to eligible individuals by Court Order
(2) Representation begins only after:
a. the accused person requests the appointment of counsel by the Court
b. the individual is proven to to be indigent by filing and affidavit of assets and liabilities
c. Court provides a written order directing the individual to be represented

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
