Description:

Services also include family reunification and appropriate, permanent families for those children who cannot safely return home. Works with community partners to support early intervention and child abuse prevention activities.

Hours:

24 hours per day, 7 days per week

Intake Process:

(1) Call the hotline to confidentially report a case of child abuse or neglect
(2) Cases of child abuse can also be reported online through the website, but not emailed
(3) Information for the report will be gathered during the time of the call
(5) For non-emergency situations, report suspected child abuse or neglect using the online reporting system at www2.illinois.gov/dcfs/safekids/reporting/Pages/index.aspx

Intake Procedure

The relative caregiver should call the DCFS hotline at 1-800-252-2873. Tell them that you are caring for your relative’s child, the child is not being abused or neglected but you want help and you want to be referred to the Extended Family Support Program.
