DuPage County is scheduling appointments for this year's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, which helps income-eligible households with their natural gas, propane and/or electric bills. It also offers assistance for inoperable furnaces. The program began taking applications on Oct. 2, 2023, for households with a senior, an individual with a disability or children younger than six years old.

On Wednesday, Nov. 1, households that are disconnected from their utilities, have a disconnection notice or have less than 25% in their propane tank could start applying for assistance. All other income-eligible households can start applying Dec. 1.

Applications will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis through Aug. 15, 2024. For more information, see dupagecounty.gov/liheap. Call 630-407-6500 to make an appointment at Community Services. Call 211 to find other agencies taking LIHEAP applications throughout the county.
