Programs that offer courses which instruct the public in how to recognize a choking victim and respond using the Heimlich maneuver and/or provide information and guidance regarding choking prevention which may be general for all populations or focus on infants and young children or older adults. Choking occurs when the airway is blocked by food or another foreign object making it impossible for the individual to breathe.
