Elderhostel Programs

Taxonomy Code: PL-8700.8000-180

Programs that combine the tradition of student travel with the desire of older adults for continued intellectual stimulation. Participants may attend one or several of the week-long sessions of courses, touring and social events at Institutes for Learning in Retirement (ILRs) that constitute the Elderhostel Network. ILRs are sponsored by a college or university and provide noncredit academic programs developed by the members themselves. Also included are programs that offer two-week travel-study programs for persons age 50 and older. Participants attend lectures at universities located in Europe. Accommodations and meals are provided at the participating university or at nearby hotels.
