The Illinois Housing Development Authority's (IHDA) rental payment program (ILRPP) will open its additional appication period for tenants at 9:00am on Monday, 6/28.  Tenants will have until 11:59pm on Sunday, 7/18 to complete their portion of the application.

Approved applicants will be eligible for up to 15 months of assistance through this grant, which will cover 12 months of past due rent as well as cover 3 months' worth of future rent payments.  This is a joint application process which needs to be started by the landlord and completed by the tenant.  Once approved, the grant will be paid directly to the housing provider in the form of a check. Eligibiity and documentation requirements are listed in 8 languages on the ILRPP program website, including Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Polish, Portuguese and Tagalog.

In DuPage County, Outreach Community Ministries is the application site for ILRPP funds for those residing in Carol Stream, Glendale Heights (Outreach Community Center), Warrenville (Warrenville Youth and Family Services), Wheaton, Glen Ellyn (Wheaton Youth Outreach) and West Chicago (Puente Del Pueblo).

In 2020, IHDA coordinated both an emergency rental and an emergency mortgage assistance program in response to the COVID-19 economic crisis.  Further information on this year's assistance program, including the application timeline, will be updated here as soon as it is available.
