Description:

Provides services to DuPage County residents who are 60 years of age or older.

Senior Services is funded through the Illinois Department on Aging and the Northeastern Illinois Agency on Aging to serve as the designated Case Coordination Unit for DuPage County.

Hours:

Monday to Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Intake Process:

(1) The applicant will be greeted by a Customer Service Assistant, and will then be transferred to an Information and Referral Specialist.
(2) Applicant will be asked to provide personal information such as name and social security number, in addition to other household demographics.
(3) A brief assessment will be completed to determine purpose for the contact and appropriate resources.
(4) The Information and Referral Specialist will either provide the information, schedule an appointment, or provide a referral for either the caller or another department to follow-up.

    Description

    Investigates reports of suspected abuse, neglect, or self-neglect for DuPage County adults over the age of 60 and adults with disabilities age 18-59 living in the community. Elder Abuse includes physical abuse, emotional abuse, financial exploitation, neglect, self-neglect, confinement, abandonment, and sexual abuse. Interventions may include home health care, nutrition services, financial or legal assistance, adult day care, housing assistance, respite, counseling for the victim and/or abuser, and guardianship and/or nursing facility placement.

    Intake Procedure

    (1) Call 630-407-6500 during normal business hours, (2) Complete a phone intake and report purpose for the call, (3) A Caseworker will be assigned to complete the investigation, (4) If the case can be substantiated, services will be made available, (5) If this is after hours, call 866-800-1409, the call center representative will take the caller's information for a Case Manager to call back.

              Special Notes/Funding

              A federally funded program that provides information and assistance, respite services, emergency support, and legal assistance to caregivers of older persons and grandparents raising grandchildren. Services may include respite in the form of home health care, adult day services, or nursing home placement on a short-term basis. Emergency gap-filling services are also available in the form of respite care, home modification, transportation, assistive devices, and financial assistance.

                Provides affordable homemaker and adult day services to income eligible Illinois residents who are least 60 years of age, and have physical or mental impairments.                   Arranges home delivered meals for home bound seniors who are unable to shop, prepare meals, or attend a Senior Dining Center. DuPage Senior Citizens Council, a not-for-profit organization serving senior citizens in DuPage County, provides the meals. Funds for the meals are received from Title III of the Older Americans Act through the Northeastern Illinois Area Agency on Aging, the United Way, local government, and other contributors.
