Description:

Statewide crisis program that provides intensive mental health services for children and youth who may need hospitalization for mental health care. Services include crisis intervention, linkage, and coordination of services to other community-based mental health agencies for aftercare and outpatient treatment.

Hours:

24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Intake Process:

(1) If you need SASS services, contact the Crisis and Referral Entry Service (CARES) line at 1-800-345-9049
(2) A SASS crisis worker will respond to complete a crisis screening and make recommendations on appropriate mental health care
a. May be provided in-person, over the phone, through video at individual's request

Program Fees:

(1) Sliding scale
a. Insurance accepted

Eligibility:

(1) Any child or youth in a mental health crisis who may need public funding through the Illinois All Kids Program or Medicaid
(2) Children and youth under the age of 18 seeking public funding for psychiatric services through the Department of Human Services
(3) Any child or youth enrolled in Illinois Healthcare and Family Services Medicaid Program or Medicaid Managed Care Organization
(4) Any child or youth whom DCFS has legal responsibility
