Service Tree

The Service Tree lists all services in "branched" groups, starting with the very general and moving to the very specific. Click on the name of any group name to see the sub-groups available within it. Click on a service code to see its details and the providers who offer that service.

Electric Service Providers

Public or private entities that are responsible for the generation, transmission, sale and/or distribution of electricity to retail or end-use customers. In areas where power deregulation has occurred and unbundled electric service is available, customers can choose to purchase electricity from a variety of alternative sources at rates determined by market forces (while maintaining their current delivery arrangements), or may elect to stay with their current electric company under, in most cases, regulated rates.

Internet Service Providers

Commercial organizations that provide real-time, fee-based access to the Internet through the subscribing individual's personal computer using phone lines, cable TV lines, or a dedicated ISDN line. Users who connect the incoming signal to a wireless router may also connect to the Internet wirelessly via personal computers equipped with that capability. Also included are nonprofits that offer Internet access as well as governmental entities which provide free wireless Internet access within a specified geographic area.

Water Service Providers

Municipal and privately operated water companies that provide drinking water for homes and businesses. Also included are organizations that deliver bulk water to customers in rural areas beyond the reach of existing water lines or to those that prefer to drink bottled water; bulk water stations that serve as a source of drinking water for water haulers; and water vending services which allow consumers to purchase unit servings of water.
