Tole/Decorative Painting Instruction

Taxonomy Code: PL-7400.0500-870

Programs that provide classes, individual lessons or other opportunities for people who want to learn or perfect their skills in tole/decorative painting, the art of decorating a variety of surfaces by painting patterns and images using specific brush strokes and techniques. Decorative painting uses many of the techniques of tole painting (historically, the decorative painting of tin surfaces) as well as many folk art painting techniques, and today the three disciplines are practically interchangeable. Decorative artists paint a wide variety of functional and purely ornamental pieces including furniture, pottery, metalware, ceramics, glassware, fabrics, walls and floors.
